Opening Night! Looming Elections: Woven Works

It was a full house for the opening of 
Looming Elections: Woven Works
Saturday night June 16.

The Study Center was filled warp and weft with fiber artists and textile admirers alike.
Cameron Taylor-Brown drew a tight crowd for her lecture and video presentation.
We were thrilled to have three of the show participants present for the talk and opening:
 Cameron, Michael Rohde and Consuelo Jimenez Underwood.

Mothers' Day Monotype Workshop-May 2012

Sons, daughters and mothers came together to make 

one-of-a-kind monotype prints as unique as Mom is!

Attendees new to the materials and technique enouraged eachother and explored together on a lovely Saturday afternoon this past May 5th.

The Window

The Window was packed with forty-six people. Everyone who played totally rocked out on a few songs that were taken off of Terry's album, then they did a three-part harmony on some folk tunes, and they added a few hymns. Terry arranged the hymns in a very sweet, somber manner in honor of her mother's love of the songs, so they harmonized together on those. 


The show was a blast and they had an hour-long set on eleven tunes. People called for an encore, but this being the first time all four of them had ever been in the same room together, let alone onstage, they didn't have something to play at hand. But next time!

Joe the Quilter the Musical

Originally a rock and roll musician, Cunningham found his voice as a quilt artist when he learned and started experimenting in 1979. He soon poured his uncovered passion into researching teaching and writing about quilts. Typically a female world, rare is the man who has ventured into these waters. Somewhere along his way, Cunningham learned about an 18th century male English quilter named Joe who inspired Cunningham to create a one‐man musical quilt show which he will perform at the Study Center on May 19, 2012 at 8 pm.
